Potholes Rescue

Sunday September 6 2015, I was injured at the Potholes. I leaped off, landing in a shallow spot full of rocks causing my foot to break, disabling me for the climb out of the steep rocks. 911 was called and soon after the call Paramedics arrived, the first man to me I believe his name was Chris, checked my injuries then prepared me to be rescued! Search N Rescuers had ropes tied off and were strapping me into a harness, they raised me up and safely out of the hole. Each and every person that showed up to the call worked together to get me out safely and as quickly as possible. I wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who showed up and got me the medical attention and rescue I needed. 3 awesome paramedics kindly carried me to the outhouse as I had been holding my urine for 4-5 hours. You all are true hero's,thank you ALL very much.

Thanks to Glade Park Volunteer Fire Dept.
by: Debra

Mandi,
The people who helped you were undoubtedly from the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department, which also does Search and Rescue on Glade Park/Pinon Mesa and also on Colorado National Monument. They are volunteers, most with full time jobs, who go through training, answer calls and even help fund raise for the department in what other people would call "time off".
Thanks for giving them the recognition they deserve.
I am afraid we have long ago lost count of how many people have been injured or even lost their lives at the Potholes. It is a beautiful, but dangerous place. Let this be another reminder for all to err on the side of caution when enjoying it.
