BLM to host open house

"The Bureau of Land Management will be holding an open house July 21, 4-6 p.m. at Glade Park Community Center, 1521 S. 16 1/2 Road, to discuss the Mountain Island land exchange, which is proposed for lands 20 miles southwest of Grand Junction in the Glade Park/Pinon Mesa area.

Under the proposed plan BLM will acquire 576 acres consisting of four private land parcels which are mostly surrounded by public lands. This exchange would give the public access to about 9,000 acres of federal land currently hard to access in the Timber Ridge area east of County Road 9.8. In exchange, 10 parcels of BLM land totaling 788 acres would be transferred to private ownership."

Finally!

Finally there is a good word about more access for the public to enjoy the beauty up here in some harder to reach areas. Sounds like a wonderful idea! Thanks to all who worked for this.
