DOW Seeking Input on Glade Park GMU's

buckmasters.com

The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) is interested in hearing from the public about management of deer and elk big game herds in and around Glade Park. Public input is critical in helping revise herd management plans, called Data Analysis Unit or DAU plans. DAU plans establish herd population objectives and set goals for male-female ratios within populations.

Interested members of the public are invited to attend a DAU planning meeting for deer and elk in Game Management Unit 40. Meetings will be Aug. 19 at the Mesa County Fairgrounds Sagebrush Room at 6:30 p.m., and Aug. 20 at the Glade Park Community Building at 6:30 p.m

Dogs tree mountain lion at Glade Park home

Thursday, July 09, 2009

By LE ROY STANDISH/The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

A Glade Park resident encountered a mountain lion near his home Thursday morning.

The homeowner said he let his dogs into the back yard around 7 a.m. and they immediately started barking. The dogs treed the mountain lion. The homeowner called the Colorado Division of Wildlife for advice on what to do next.

“We advised the caller what they needed to do is bring the dogs inside,” said DOW spokesman Randy Hampton.

“It is pretty common.”

The lion did not leave the property, though.

“They brought the dogs in, but the lion was still kind of in the area,” Hampton said. “We used a bean bag round fired from a shotgun ... and immediately, with great haste, (the lion) left the area.”

The lion was seen about two miles west of the Glade Park Store, he said. Read complete Sentinel story

Another rescue call at the potholes

June 28, 2009
For once this was not a fatal diving accident. A 60 year old man slid down a rocky slope and injured his hip. Our faithful Glade Park Volunteer Fire Dept. responded, along with Mesa County Sheriff's Dept. Search and Rescue Team. The story says the road was "dust choked." They should see it on a dry year. Tom Chesnick in ATV accident

June 28, 2009
Update on Tom Chesnick. Latest word is that his condition is improving.

June 21, 2009
Tom Chesnick was involved in an ATV accident last week. He was not getting better and in lots of pain. After several trips back to the emergency room the last couple of days, St. Mary's flew him to University Hospital in Denver last night. He is in ICU with blood clots. Belle went over on flight with him and their daughter in law, Diane left today to head over. Sam stayed behind to take care of cows and home front.
