A Coates Creek Celebration!

A poem about good times at Coates Creek!

By Vernice Wood Larson

Now if you want to have a lot of fun
On this Thanksgiving Day
Just crank the old jalopy up
And come down Coates Creek way.

Now Ralph will start a tunin’ up
Along about sundown.
We plan to have a darn good stomp
And dance the clock around.

We ain’t much for fancy dancin’,
Square dancings more our speed.
You need no money to get in,
A grin is all you need.

Now the dance hall isn’t perfect,
And the music ain’t sublime,
But you’ll want to come to Coates Creek
For an old rip-snortin’ time!
